Final stages of fip in cats

I am writing this on Wednesday night and in just 24 hours I will be seeing a Vet and will not have been on Prednisone for a full two weeks. That being sd I have been feeling really strange over the past couple of days so I went to my Vet yesterday. I am now on a different Prednisone tablet and hopefully my stomach will settle back down after being on the same thing for so long. I have had fip so bad on occasion where I can't take Prednisone I will do ok, just not now. My stomach is always really upset and I have been on different kinds of Prednisone in the past, this is the worst so far. Yesterday the Vet sd that the fip is being flushed out of my system, as of this morning. It was not until yesterday that I mentioned the fact that I had read something on the internet stating that when people's cats develop fip that they have to flush the fip from their system, do you know anything about this? Thanks for any information you can give me.

My kitten has fip but she's been treated. We changed her tablet to a lower dose and she went back to being like she was a few days after she was on the same dose for like a week. I don't really know that there's a cure but I know there is a lot of treatment avlable. I'm taking her back in a few weeks to see if it has worked and if not, go from there. I'm on her second round of antibiotics now and she's getting better. I also had a cat with fip that was never treated that was fine until her kidneys started fling.

The Vet I see regularly has prescribed fip drops for my cat, so I haven't been using it. I haven't noticed any side effects from her drops or the Prednisone so far.

This is what the owner of the cat I have sd you are treating says, but I have not read anything on the internet to support that. Thank you for your responses.

Oh.. That's what he sd on another thread (the owner), and that's why I started asking questions. It's just hard to get a good understanding of how it works and how it effects your cat and how it should work.

My sister has a cat with the same fip disease and she had to have his kidney removed. Not a fan of that but it sounds like it saved his life. So the vet probably wanted to keep her in good health. Good luck with this!

As I read it, she has fip. And I don't know what to expect when taking the prednisone. From reading here, they aren't saying that if it goes up, it's good. There are so many different kinds of fip that the prednisone isn't going to do anything.

I will see her in two weeks. And I am going to try to tell her that it was a drug she just had in her system. Hopefully, that will help. I don't know.

You can start giving it now and see if that works. As long as it's not causing any withdrawal signs from her. They can sometimes take the drug for a few days or weeks before the antibodies start to build up and show up. If it was me, I would just give her some and see what happens. At least, you can go see how she does and make sure there aren't any side effects. Like I sd, you can't give her any for longer than 2 weeks at a time. If it works, then you could try giving it to her a few times in the 2 weeks that you're seeing the vet. If it doesn't work, then you can try to keep her on it for a longer time. You don't want to add anything else to the fip medication. So, just try giving it some more and see what happens. Good luck.

If it's anything like kidney stones it can be life threatening. That's one of the things that I hate about it too, but sometimes if it is life threatening, they do do it. But that was my biggest fear and I was going through every single second of my life with anxiety about it. I thought she was going to die because I thought she was going to have to get surgery to have the stone removed. It is serious. I had to leave college and couldn't get work.

I have been giving my mom, who has just been diagnosed with cancer in the last week. It was found on her lung. We went to the hospital on Monday. We have not been told if she is a smoker, or has a family history of cancer. But just recently my dad has been diagnosed with cancer. It is just too much, and I am overwhelmed at the moment. I dont know how to go on... I was telling my mom what to look out for with what it is and I don't know if there is anything I can do to help her. It's just so scary. I didn't know if I should be in the room with her when they give her chemo... My husband was there and he sd it was the worst thing he has seen. I told him she was doing great, but we are so helpless. I'm wondering what everyone else is doing... I will have a glass of wine every night when I get home from work... My husband is trying to help me
